Doctor Jonathan Fradkin is a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine with subspecialty of Small Animal Internal Medicine and is the 2005 TVMA Board Certified Practitioner of the year. He is a graduate of the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (1991). From 1997 to 2000 he completed a Residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at Texas A&M University, achieving a Masters in Veterinary Physiology (2000) and completing Board Certification in 2001. While at Texas A&M he served as Chief Resident of the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. Dr. Fradkin served in the U. S. Army Veterinary Corps from 1991 to 2004. His assignments included small animal practice and public health responsibilities at Great Lakes Illinois and with American forces in Honduras, and marine mammal practice with the U.S. Navy in San Diego California. From 2000-2003, he served as Chief of Internal Medicine at the Department of Defense Military Working Dog Center at Lackland Air Force Base. He is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He is married to Dawn Fradkin, DVM (TAMU 2002). They share a hill country home in Bergheim with numerous four-footed “children” including dogs, cats, horses, and goats.

Doctor Fradkin’s areas of special interest are Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy, Liver Disease, Endocrinology, and Clinical Nutrition.



Dr. J. Veronika Kiklevich graduated from Purdue University in 1980 with a BS in Biochemistry and received her DVM from Cornell University in 1984. Dr. Kiklevich is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners with certification in both Canine and Feline Practice. She practiced in Albuquerque, NM and Boston, MA before joining the clinical faculty of Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery as head of the Community Practice Service. While at Washington State University from 1992 to 2004 she created and promoted a premier dental program through the Community Practice service. She is now pursuing board certification in dentistry and her practice is limited to dentistry and oral surgery in small animals. Dr. Kiklevich moved to San Antonio in 2004 and began an independent mobile veterinary dentistry practice before joining SAVRS the next year. We are very pleased that she has joined SAVRS.

In addition to her education and work experience, she and her husband are the authors of Real People Don’t Own Monkeys and has participated in community education projects by participating on a TV Show in Boston, “For Pet’s Sake, “ and offering information on a call-in radio show in Albuquerque on KZIA. When Dr. Kiklevich isn’t attending to her furry patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband Steve, her two teenage daughters Molly and Marika and her own pets Oso (lab), Fifi (Chihuahua), Frank (Mixed dog), Zoey (Cat), Googlie (African Grey), Hector (Yellow Nape), Tarantula.

Deborah Hil
l has been a veterinary technician for the past 10 years. Her professional interests are emergency care and anesthesia. Aside from enjoying her many animal patients, she likes to sit-back and relax at home with her dogs Rocco & Skeeter, her cats Zipper, Rodney, & Pip and her husband Dave. In her spare time she enjoys visiting her grown sons and spending time at the coast.

Helena Ryu, CVA
Helana
joined SAVRS in March 2005 as an animal caretaker and veterinary assistant. She achieved Certified Veterinary Assistant status with the Texas Veterinary Medical Association in November 2005., Before joining the SAVRS team, Helena worked at the 650+ dog kennel Military Working Dog Center at Lackland AFB. During that time she handled high energy police dogs for Dr. Fradkin and other veterinarians. She received an achievement award for being an expert dog handler, and for saving a valuable working dog’s life. She later worked with the Department of Defense Malinois Puppy Program. She owns one cat named “Sasha.”

Heidi Coke, RVT
Heidi has been a registered technician for 9 years and has joined our team working with Dr. Kiklevich in the dental department. She is looking forward to pursuing her AVDT specialty board certification soon. Married to husband Rob, who is the senior Veterinarian at the San Antonio Zoo, they share their home with about 20 domestic and exotic animals. Dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, tortoises, genets, bearded dragons, uromastyx, snakes and fish are all part of their household. Wow!

Paula Oberle, OFFICE MANAGER

Paula Oberle is originally from Wisconsin. Paula and husband Steve moved to San Antonio in 2000. Since that time Paula has been active as a medical office administrator in several human and veterinary practices prior to joining SAVRS in 2006. Paula is also very active in the animal rescue and rehabilitation. She is President of Animal Friends Humane Society and has an ever changing herd of personal pets and adoption candidates in her home.
